MOTIVATION
A growing body of learning repositories is making digital learning resources available to any user searching for educational content on various topics, through learning repositories (i.e. MERLOT, ARIADNE, LRE for schools, Organic.Edunet, MACE Project).
Through this vast number of repositories, millions of learning resources are being made available, a fact that brings forward various research topics, having to do amongst other things, with the technology that supports them, the standards being used to describe the LOs, the quality of learning as well as metadata within the repositories, etc. Openess of content and sharing of resources are also part of the ethical but also very technical issues that arise for learning repositories and learning infrastructures in general.
This special track at the Fifth Metadata and semantics research conference (MTSR 2011) is aimed at gathering research, deployment and evaluation results of initiatives that support/develop/deploy learning infrastructures.
The papers will undergo the same peer review as the submissions for MTSR2011 and accepted contributions will be published in the MTSR proceedings (Springer CCIS series). More information on submission can be found at MTSR 2011 submission page.
